Film/Music Video Director: E-mail Discussions With A Band Manager

drewmasters:

Hi (Cool band manager I respect),

So the ice cream parlor where we shot the music video is getting a write-up in the Chronicle, and the owner wants a link to the music video (he’s going to mention how a local indie band supported the indie ice cream parlor). Pretty cool I think. Is it OK if I give them my vimeo link to the music video? Might be good exposure for the band. I’ll make sure to have a link to the band’s EP and Myspace in the description section of the music video. Please let me know if there are any other links you would like me to add to the description section.
Right now my vimeo link to the music video is set on private, but if it’s OK to promote the link in the newspaper, I will make it public.
Please let me know if it’s Ok to share the link with the San Francisco Chronicle. They want to know by the 17th. The article will run on the 22nd (Sunday), which is a great day for paper reading.
Hope all is well.

Let’s just say this, my post earlier about free promotion was about this manager (as was that unfriending post). He told me to take several videos that me and other friends of the band made off the internet. He never had a good reason for this free promotion to not be out. It baffled me, considering that band wanted me to make this content. Because my friend Gairo was still dealing with this guy, I chose to remain friends with him and pretend that nothing was wrong. Now two videos that Gairo put his blood and tears into won’t be released because of this douche. The band is still cool with me, so my beef is not with them.

I declare scorched earth on this guy. I’ve done this once before and I hope this is the last time, but this guy’s name is shit (it was mud before, so not that much of a downgrade). And I’ll do everything I can tell the band to dump this fucking anchor.
